FOSTERING LINGUISTIC AND DEBATING SKILLS AT OUR SCHOOL’S DEBATE CLUB

Our school’s Debate Club offers a unique platform for students to engage in eloquent discourse, emphasizing both the German and English languages, particularly beneficial for our primarily Spanish-speaking students. By encouraging participation in debates conducted in these foreign languages, the club actively promotes linguistic diversity and proficiency, serving as an invaluable opportunity for students to broaden their language skills, thereby preparing them for an increasingly interconnected global society.

Furthermore, the Debate Club serves as a bastion for promoting the art of debate, not merely focusing on language acquisition, but also instilling vital skills such as persuasive argumentation and active listening. More remarkably, the club emphasizes the importance of embracing differing viewpoints, fostering an environment where students learn to respectfully agree and disagree, thus cultivating a culture of open-mindedness and understanding—an essential quality in an interconnected world that thrives on diverse perspectives.
