How to develop critical thinking?

Learning to think critically is probably one of the skills children will need most in the future. In an age of computerization, digitization and technological advances, children will have to continually adapt to a constantly changing world. They will have to learn to think critically in order to analyze new information, compare and contrast it with others. as well as being able to make inferences and develop complex thought patterns.

  • Ask open-ended questions, instead of answering him directly, answer him with another question! «What do you think?», «What do you think would happen?»
  • Do not intervene directly when he has a problem, give him the time to find a solution to a problem for himself, encouraging him to formulate different solutions. «What other ideas could we try to solve this problem?», «Let’s take a moment to think of all the possible solutions.»
