Students from 9th grade studied how humans use a variety of energy sources to meet their energy needs for various purposes, including electricity generation, transportation, heating, and industrial processes. These energy sources can be broadly categorized into two main types: non-renewable and renewable energy sources. Non-renewable energy sources for example fossil fuels, nuclear energy and renewable energy sources such as solar energy, wind energy, hydropower (hydroelectricity), geothermal energy, biomass energy, tidal and wave energy, hydrogen, biofuels, waste-to-energy, ocean thermal energy conversion.
